Backpacation to Bandung Day 1

I
t took me a while just nak gather all info about my last trip to Bandung. So I need to refresh my memory by browsing all photos in my laptop.
My first trip to Bandung was back in October 2010 right after I got my first job. Siap cuti tanpa gaji lagi as long as I can go to Bandung, I’ll be grateful. Why I chose Bandung in a first place? As usual lah, when all makciks near my house keep saying shopping in Bandung is delightful, I got influenced! With all their fancy stories, I pon terus duduk depan laptop and book tickets at only RM120 via AirAsia.
Me, sister and brother in law were so happy as it was our first trip outside Malaysia together. I decided not to sign up for any travel agent and went there by ourselves. Yes, we made it! Okay, let’s begin with my story:
Journey from LCCT took only 2 hours without delay. Arrived at Bandara Husein Sastranegara Bandung airport was relieved. And please don’t expect more with this airport. It’s a lil bit small. But for sure, it will upgrade soon as more tourist come to Bandung. Immigration took a while as usual. Thanks to our supir for being so patient waited for us with Miss SAFARA signage. Glad I asked the supir where he’s from. Or else, we will take blue taxi to Dago. Oh what a relieved!
Through the window. About to take off
Arrived around 9pm (Bandung time) and shop already closed
Heading to our guesthouse took another half an hour. Stopped by at their local prepaid mobile shop to buy simcard. I need to stay online while in Bandung. Okay let me tell you about our hostel. It’s a lil bit isolated di tepi-tepi lereng bukit. Kat guesthouse ni memang kawasan rumah orang Bandung. Lorong memang a bit dark and scary. Yet, still got people yang jalan in the dark ye. So cool I guess!
Since we stayed near the hill in Dago, memang the weather so chilly. Sama macam stay in Cameron Highlands. After reached the guesthouse, we all asked lots of questions at counter especially on what services they provide. Make a booking for airport transfer and in case our 1stsupir (not from the guesthouse) didn’t pick up the phone. At that night, we just chillax in our room. Layan all channels on television then dapat tengok Desperate Housewives marathon episode on Star World. They’ve got subtitle. So it’s my good chance to learn how to understand Indonesian language. Learn and learn and sleep and dream. That’s my first night in Bandung.
Juta juta Rupiah… Still can’t make me a billionaire 🙂
Woke up early in the morning. Called pak Zahan to confirm my guesthouse. And he didn’t turn up. He doesn’t want to pick us up. Just because of we stay a lil bit far from town. Hey come on lah. We still in Bandung. I didn’t asked you to fetch us from KL. Without wasting any time, I rushed to our guesthouse office and make a booking for 3 days tour. Luckily, we got Heri (supir). He’s really good. He gave some tips and tricks to shop in Bandung. He even bargained for us.
Morning in Bandung and this is our guesthouse

Before round the town, our supir stopped at petrol station
Our first destination was Pasar Baru. According to bloggers, you need to arrive at Pasar Baru early in the morning. It just a pasar which sells foods, handphone accessories, bags, shoes and TEXTILES. Oh my favorite. Memang itulah tujuan ke Bandung. I want to borong all fabrics. Yes, it’s so murah compared to Jakel, Nagoya, Gulatis and many more in Msia. As I observed, laces mmg byk. For me, semuanya cantik and rambang mata if kat sana. Tak dapat nak pilih which one yang the best.
If nak tempah dress for wedding, memang boleh jugak. If not mistaken, it can be ready no later than 24 hours and depends on the style. My sister used tailor service for her kebaya. It charged almost r/p 100,000 (RM35) and he will deliver to guesthouse within 2days. Not bad jugak jahitannya. And forget to tell you guys, Pasar Baru got 7 levels. Parking on 7th level while food court located at 6th. Penat bershopping, we had our lunch at food court. We ordered Nasi Ayam Penyet. That was first and last experience for Ayam Penyet in Bandung. Sorry to be so transparent but it doesn’t taste really good like Malaysia.
Our first stop in Pasar Baru
Went crazy with all beautiful textiles
Soursop juice & Ayam Penyet for lunch
We did asked our supir to bring us to good restaurant for dinner. I just cant eat only Nasi Ayam Penyet. Then, he said, he’ll bring us to famous Sunda restaurant. Olrite. Just give a try!
Bandung people are so creative when it comes to business- a man selling newspaper
If Thailand got Tuk Tuk, Indonesia got Angkotan.
We continued our journey to Paris Van Java. I need to go to La Senza and jalan-jalan in the mall.Nothing much to do in Paris Van Java. Just a small mall with fancy toilets.

A lil bit shopping

For dinner, we went to Karamba, a Sunda cuisine. Heri sat at the same table with us. He guides us to order. We tried Ikan Garumet, Otak- otak Indonesia and asam soup with corn. I only can finish half of my rice. I just can’t push myself anymore. It tastes so weird. Corn in asam rebus? Ok I’m out! No more Sundanese food after this.

My dinner

Heading to guesthouse and stopped by at famous Amanda brownies to buy some. I need to eat something before sleep. That’s one of reasons why I travel. An excuse for skipping my diet. Amanda Brownies has so many flavors. Baked or steam. My favorite is Chocolate steam brownies. The texture is so soft and of course it’s yummy. Better try! (I’m sleeping with brownies by my side)
