Backpacation to Redang

The day I composed this post was the day I discovered new look for blogspot. It explains how busy I am with work and life. Seriously, I’ve got no quality time to spend and write peacefully. Chewah!

However, the best part is I still can have my island vacation in early April 2012. Woot- woot. Memang terbaik lah when you can get together with you ex schoolmates and spent 2 days in island with them. Best!
Okay let’s layan my journey to ….. Redang Island.

It’s all begins when we chatted about my trip to Korea last year. I also shared my experience in Perhentian island. Then, we were keen to organize and plan for island trip. I suggested we should go to Redang as I’ve been dreaming to go there long time ago.

We even created BBM group called Pulau Redang and even until now, orang yang tak pergi Redang pun ada dalam group tu. Hehe….
When you worked in a team, it’s very hard to find a final date and perfect time to go. Then after several discussions, kiteorang pon choose to go in April.

As usual, I’m handling on chalet and transportation. To find the best deal also included in my regular travel task. After tons of research done, we finally agreed with the only reasonable chalet : Redang Lagoon Chalet. It’s totally worth every ringgit we’ve spent. Definitely recommend this chalet.

Ahaaa, now nak start with our transportation to Kuala Terengganu. Redang island is located in Terengganu. From Kuala Lumpur, we took Sani bus directly to Kuala Terengganu bus terminal. The journey took 8 hours and memang lemau lah dalam bas. Fell asleep dah banyak kali, melayan Azam bergossip pon quite lama, yet, still long way to go.

Tapi, i salute the Sani driver. He able to maintain the speed to keep us safe. Alhamdulillah, the journey was smooth. Oh forgot to tell you, our bus ticket only cost us RM80 (return tix) per person.

We arrived in KT around 6++ am. From the terminal, we walked down to Pasar Payang. When talk about pasar, it always reminds me on how busy people in pasar especially when they unloading their stuff as early as 3am. But, it was so different in Pasar Payang. It’s so quiet. All shops still close. And toilet.

OMG… no public toilets opened before 8 am. Hazab uols. Thank to Arda who drove us to Felda Residences in KT and used their toilets.Fuh! So relieved. Then, we went back to jetty and get everybody gather in one place. We talked about lots of things until rains poured heavily. We ran towards blue tent and found it was a perfect shelter for 9 of us.

Once the rain stops, we went to jetty office to collect our ferry tickets. But, it was too early until Sejahtera ferry open their office. So we all lepak again kat luar office and gossip about people around there. Hehe…
We were so bored waiting for the office to open. When the time hit 7.55am, they opened their counter for ticket collection. However, the rain fell again. This time, memang I need to redah the hujan because I need to collect the tickets.

Oh for your information, you can take ferry/ boat to Redang from Merang Jetty or Syahbandar Jetty. We choose to take ferry in Syahbandar as it just few mins walk from Pasar Payang. It’s very convenient for traveller like us πŸ™‚

By the time we got the tickets, we were so excited as the trip is really happening. One step closer to Redang uols…. Memang excited giler time ni. Everyone took their seat and once the ferry people announced the trip will take about 1 hour 20 minutes, I was like… woahhhh! So long man… And the seat was a bit rigid. But I managed to fell asleep comfortably.

We arrived in Redang Island and we need to take a taxi boat to jetty. Just a few mins away, the rain falls again. First time merasa hujan di pulau and it’s kinda kill our moods to enjoy the moment in island L. Running to find a good shelter in Redang which was our chalet, Redang Lagoon Island. It’s not hard to find this place as the chalet location is strategic. We checked in to our room and get ourselves ready to hit the beach once the rain stops.

I must say, this place is spectacular even almost packed with bunch of people came to have a great holiday. We got crazy as some of us finally had their first experience in an island.

Again, he asked me to capture him.. Aiyo Azam

After mandi manda, obviously we were so hungry.
Luckily, it’s almost lunch time. We went to dining hall in our chalet. Okayyyy…. we were the first group to arrived in dining room. Look like our group is super hungry.
This is my honest review on the food in Redang Lagoon Chalet. They served the best kampung food  in  island. It makes me feel like having lunch at my own house with island as background. Most of us really enjoyed the food. Thanks Auntie for your super delicacies.

On our first day in island,  there’s only 1 snorkeling trip in the evening. Unfortunately, i didn’t joined my friends for a certain reason hehe…so my friends went there and they said, the corals were common. But, we still have 2 snorkeling trips in Marine Park and 3 Islands.

In the evening, where some of my clique need rest after their snorkeling trip, some of us went ‘jalan- jalan’ around the island and snap- snap photos lah. In island, we need to create our own activities to keep the holiday mood ON.

BBQ was included in our 3days 2 nights package. That night, we get everyone gather in dining hall and go ‘bakar-bakar’. They’ve got chickens, fish, cuttlefish & prawn. They also got attractive ‘waitress’ to serve us. The waitress were called Lisa and Jenny. They wore catchy outfits and wigs to attract the guests. First time in my life to have this kind of experience.

After dinner, one of best friends got invited to party in Pelangi Beach Resort (we know who). I wanted to got to Redang Beach Resort because it will be more fun I guess. But we decided to go to Pelangi since my friend got ‘special invitation’. The party was fun. Just fun. After that, we went to our room to take a good rest.

Discussed where to go for party
For our day 2, I set my alarm at 7 am as our 2nd snorkeling trip will be started at 9am. Only mye and Fifie awake. We knocked everyone doors and wake up all my friends. We were hungry at that time to wait everybody to get ready. So we went for breakfast and lepak at the beach for a while.
When all ready to hit the beach, we head to the tongkang and we found out there’s no seat for us to sit. Hey come on lah, we were in fishing boat. This is my first experience to be in  the tongkang. So everyone played their role as immigrant from different country. We make a fun of it until there’s a speed boat overtake us and all of us sorok muka sebab our tongkang was super slow. Haha
Once arrived in Marine Park, the beach boy gave some advice to all the guests. One thing I love about this fella, he talked like Zizan Raja Lawak. The accent definitely same as well as his style. We called him Abang Zizang.
After simple guidance, here we gooooo…. For me, there’s nothing special in Marine Park. I get to see only some exotic corals and fishes. I want to see Nemo as I did in Perhentian. But failed to locate them πŸ™

After Marine Park, we went back to chalet for lunch. At 2pm, we need to get together for final snorkeling trip. At first, I don’t wanna join this trip as I’m too tired to swim again. But, Abang Zizang said we need to go this place as it’s full with beautiful corals.

Bye bye Pulau Tiga. You’re so beautiful
We went back to our chalet after saying good bye to Pulau Tiga. Changed our outfits for next activity which was volleyball. Divided ourselves into 4 people in a group. I thought beach volleyball is easy but it’s very hard especially when you can’t stop laughing. The best workout in island where everybody fell few times and  cannot bounce the ball. After few minutes, 2 guys joined us and the games get really fun.

Yay! We’re ready for volleyball

We surrendered after 2 rounds. Sweating like crazy. Then, we head to dining hall for dinner. We lepaks in dining hall quite long as it was our last night in Redang. Lots of gossips as usual.

We’ve got full moon at the back

For that night, I really want to go to Redang Beach again and unfortunately they closed. Alaaaaa…
So, Pelangi again! This time, we get to hang out with beach boys and they showed their great shuffle! Awesome lah. While we busy partying, our friend met in island told us whoever take the boat at 7am needs to be at jetty at 6am sharp. Woahh…. we need to wake up at 5am and pack our stuff.

We are young

Spot me if you can πŸ™‚

Early morning, we wake up and go to dining hall for breakfast. Met several people who will depart in the same ferry with us and talk about how hard to stay awake at this hour. After breakfast, we head to jetty and taxi boat already waiting for us. After 3 minutes trip, we get on the ferry and fell asleep until 8am when we arrived in SyahBandar jetty.
On the ferry ready to depart

The weather a lil bit gloomy in Kuala Terengganu. We walked down to Pasar Payang to shop for Keropok Lekor. Realized that my backpack is full and heavy, I really need to stop shopping. When everybody done, we head to bus terminal and our bus is ready. Put our stuff in the bus and 8 hours journey filled with variety of snoring sounds.

We’re in Pasar Payang

Once arrived in Wisma Putra, we took LRT to Sungei Besi. It’s been a long time since the first time I took LRT. They changed the ticket to coins now. Reminds me of Bangkok.

Around 6pm, we arrived safe and sound in Sungei Besi. Took our different path to home and done!

The coins I talked about

xoxo,
S
